Skillful highlights Governor General Award–winning artists Lou Lynn, Jane Kidd, and Greg Payce, whose masterful approaches to bronze, glass, tapestry, and ceramics merge tradition with contemporary ideas, affirming the value of hand-making as a vital expression of culture, history, and human experience.
Each artist transforms material with imagination and rigor, creating works that balance technical mastery with conceptual depth, and invite reflection on the enduring significance of craft in a digital age. Together, Lynn, Kidd, and Payce demonstrate how skill, concept, and material ingenuity continue to shape contemporary art. Organized by the Kelowna Art Gallery with the intention of touring to other venues, Skillful will be accompanied by a full-colour publication that further explores the artists’ practices and contributions to contemporary craft.
