Time:

10:00 am

Description:

Have you ever wondered if people of all ages can enroll in university courses and fully participate in campus life?

A Partnership in Research webinar sponsored by the Institute for Healthy Living and Chronic Disease Prevention, University of British Columbia

As an Age-Friendly University (AFU), UBCO welcomes learners of all ages and actively seeks to challenge the idea that higher education is only for younger adults.

This panel will explore “What can UBCO offer you?” whether you're a student, an older adult, or represent a community organization. UBCO is proud to be part of the Global AFU Network, and we’re committed to fostering inclusivity in learning.

Speakers:
• Dale Mullings will share his insights on leading inclusive campus initiatives.
• Jon Corbett will discuss how UBCO and community organizations can engage collaboratively.
• Garry McCracken will reflect on his journey as a lifelong learner and offer his perspective on being an older adult who returned to university to pursue graduate studies.

For Younger Students: Discover what it means to be part of a university that fosters unique perspectives, experiences, and expertise through dynamic intergenerational learning opportunities. Learn how you can get involved in UBCO’s broader community and connect with exciting research and experiential learning opportunities.

For Older Adults: Hear about and share your thoughts on being part of an Age Friendly University with the aim to elevate accessible, and inclusive learning for all ages.

For Industry Partners: Explore new opportunities for public and academic collaboration. Find out how interdisciplinary partnerships and community engagement at UBCO are fostering a truly inclusive space for learners of all ages.
