Habitat is a multidisciplinary solo inspired by the life cycle of hermit crabs, serving as a metaphor for the artist's emigration journey from Uruguay to Canada. Hermit crabs don’t have a shell; instead, they house themselves in objects according to their size. As they grow, their object becomes limiting and uncomfortable, so they look for a new one. A spicy puppet cabaret, hosted by a sassy grandma who keeps trying to steal the show. Ingrid Hansen, a puppeteer for Jim Henson Company’s Fraggle Rock, performs this beautifully twisted variety show. Watch behind-the-scenes as Hansen performs a live puppet film, animating cheeky vignettes in the palm of her hand and projecting them onto a huge screen. Read more
