A Year From Now is an introspective look at works from the Kelowna Art Gallery’s permanent collection that were hand-picked by local artist and curator Wanda Lock.
The exhibition presents these selections — a collage of moments — that uncover interrelations between the artists and their artworks, intertwining their personal and local histories.
Organized into five poetic groupings, each is thematically tied together by a familiar turn of phrase; Love is blind, Home is where the heart is, When you crop a photo you tell a lie, Best laid plans, and To everything there is a season. These five spaces reveal stories about relationships, romance, destruction, resolution, and the human condition. Simply put, this exhibition is about looking and remembering.
A Year From Now is guest curated by Wanda Lock, who studied art at Emily Carr College of Art and Design. She is Curator at the Lake Country Art Gallery and calls the Okanagan home.
