Milkcraters Of The Moon Reading Series: Kelly Shepherd & John La Greca
Date:Thu, Mar 21st, 2019
Time:7:00 pm to 9:00 pm
This is the ninth reading in the Milkcraters of the Moon (MOM) Reading series. MOM is a collaboration between Kelowna non-profit arts organization, The Inspired Word Cafe, and the UBCO Faculty of Creative and Critical Studies.
The goal of the series is to foster community and coalition building between our local and institutional art communities by pairing notable Canadian authors from out of town with writers from our own community, and to provide a short open mic for other creators to share their work.
Insomnia Bird: Edmonton Poems (Thistledown Press, 2018) is Kelly Shepherd's second full-length poetry collection. Shift, his first (Thistledown Press, 2016), was longlisted for the Edmonton Public Library’s People’s Choice Award in 2017. Kelly has written six poetry chapbooks, & a seventh is forthcoming from the Alfred Gustav Press. He has a Creative Writing MFA from UBC Okanagan (with a thesis on ecopoetry & work poetry), & an MA in Religious Studies (with a thesis on sacred geography) from the University of Alberta. Originally from Smithers, BC, Kelly lives in Edmonton & teaches English & Communications at NAIT. He is also poetry editor for the environmental philosophy journal, The Trumpeter.
