Description:

The three day BC Interior Jazz Festival brings high school and middle school students together from all around the West to perform and be adjudicated with their Jazz Bands, Vocal Jazz Groups, and Jazz Combos. These performances take place at the Kelowna Community Theatre and the Rotary Centre for the Arts on April 11th, 12th , and 13th. Viewing is open to the public. Admission is $3/day at the Kelowna Community Theatre and free at the Rotary Centre for the Arts.

The festival offers jazz music students an excellent opportunity to showcase their talents while vying for a chance to qualify for a MusicFest invitation. Groups are adjudicated by a panel of professional music adjudicators and have opportunities to listen to other groups perform. There are FREE workshops for the students and the public on Friday and Saturday, April 12th and 13th at the Rotary Centre for the Arts. Topics include Percussion, Rhythm Section, Vocal, Improvisation, Guitar, Saxophone, Trumpet and Trombone. The public is encouraged to attend. BC Interior Jazz Festival

Non government organization. The BC Interior Jazz Festival is organized by local music teachers from SD23 (along with many volunteers) to give high school and middle school students in jazz programs a chance to perform on stage and be adjudicated by professional musicians.
